Exploring the daring rescues of people in distress in the White Mountains led by New Hampshire’s Department of Fish and Game and the region’s volunteer search and rescue teams. Whether in depths of winter or the warmth of summer, the ever changeable weather in the high peaks can create unexpected hazards. 

In this talk, Mount Washington Observatory Executive Director Drew Bush will explore how weather played a factor in each situation and examine how rescues overcame all obstacles to save lives. Drew will draw upon historical records as well as the writings of Nick Howe and Ty Gagne to examine the decisions that led to an incident, their impacts, and how rescuers were able to respond.
